Kirsty

Kirsty decided early that her future would be her children, giving them the support, tools, and skills to be independent and happy in life, and as a result she has a knowledge born out of years of investigation and planning. What she didn’t realise was that this would become her vocation.

Before the birth of her first child, Kirsty had been successfully progressing her office career. During maternity, she concluded she needed more time with her son if she was going to provide an ideal environment for growth. The solution: Kirsty handed in her notice and set up her childminding business, giving her the ability to focus on the nurturing environment she wanted, whilst providing an income.

Her business grew beyond the space her home could provide and opened Flying High Outdoor Nursery to be able to offer the wonderous outdoor, Forest School experience to even more children locally.

Jen

Jen spent 5 years  as a primary school Teaching Assistant, which is where she started working on her Forest School qualifications.

Through teaching Forest Schools and Outdoor Learning, she appreciates the value of play and child led activities. Jen is passionate about arts and crafts and has a degree in textiles. She loves to be creative with natural materials and engaging children in art.

Since starting at Flying High, Jen has developed her passion for working with children with additional needs. She has completed her Level 3 SENCO course which has developed her understanding of SEND and made the setting even more accessible to all.

Miriam

Miriam studied Childhood and Youth Studies at university and has spent the last 5 years working in a range of schools and nurseries since, including a year teaching in Vietnam.

She has a love for music, dance and the creative arts and enjoys seeing the positive impact creativity has on children’s development and wellbeing.

Miriam is passionate about the outdoors and protecting our natural environment. She enjoys spending as much of her free time as possible outdoors and recognises the importance of nurturing our connection with nature.

Miriam is always keen to expand her knowledge professionally and creatively.

Hattie

Hattie has 12 years experience working with children both in their own homes and in nursery settings. She has recently developed her understanding by completing her Level 3 in Childcare.

Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the outdoors with her family, sewing, making clothes and eco products.

Hattie is committed to providing a fun and enabling environment where children can flourish.

Hayley

Hayley has been excited about Flying High’s ethos since Kirsty was asking for opinions on the business name at play group back in 2019. She came for a visit before we had finished building the site and put her daughters’ names down straight away – some of the first on the list!

Over a year later, Hayley’s love of the nursery has grown, she has seen first-hand how the team help her family flourish and is excited to become an integral part of the Flying High family.

Hayley brings her experience of additional needs, working in care and as a mum of 5 gorgeous children to the team.

She loves being outdoors with her family and caring for her horses in her spare time.

Growing our team – our commitment to you!

Our business continues to realise our passion to provide a nurturing and positive learning environment based in the great outdoors. We are aware that our greatest reward comes from seeing our approach to deliver success for all children. We will protect this.

We already know the demand for our services will grow, but we will only allow the business to expand when we find new team members who mirror our passion and have the experience and capability to provide the same level of care for your child. If this means we can’t expand fast enough to meet increased demand – so be it!
