Inclusion

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At Flying High, we expect our setting to mould to the interests of the children, not the other way around. Our free flow, child-led ideologies mean the setting is perfect for all. We recognise that everyone is unique and needs an education tailored to their interests and development.

Children with SEND can find it difficult to attend education settings and can find their additional needs are ignored in favour of pushing formal academic learning.  We put Personal, Social and Emotional Development at the forefront of our education, giving children the foundations on which to build the rest of their learning.

Additional needs are properly supported by staff, led by a qualified and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator. Our small child:staff ratios allow for lots of 1:1 time for everyone.

We respect children need space and time to themselves. The team knows when to step back and observe the innate learning evolving, and when to offer guidance and push their experiences further.

The whole team attend training where appropriate, enjoy learning about a variety of conditions and thinking about how to adapt the setting to welcome each child.

Worried about finances?

Inclusion is not only about SEND, its about ensuring ALL children are given the same opportunities, regardless of the circumstances they find themselves in.

We can accept a range of payment methods including funding and vouchers – very few families pay full price! www.childcarechoices.gov.uk will calculate what support you can claim.

Children from low-income households or disadvantaged backgrounds, with additional needs or those who have experience of being in care, may be entitled to additional funding. This is usually paid directly to nursery.

If your child fits into one of these categories, or if you are worried about being able to afford the kit needed for nursery, we may be able to help.
